  • Time synchronization config is reported.
  • Easy to compare if the same LUNs are prestented to each host by the mean of the storage ctrl LUN UUID.

viDocIT now use SSH (you need to be able to login through SSH on each ESX host) to retrieve properties not available through Vmware VI3 SDK. viDocIT article @ runvirtual.com

Richard at run-virtual.com have written an article about the lazy virtulization administrator and the tools that he/she may use to document a virtual infrastructure in an easy way. The article focuses how to document your (Vmware) Virtual Infrastructure with viDocIT or Veeam Reporter.

Here´s a direct link to Richards article, http://www.run-virtual.com/?p=186.

We believe that these two products do not compete, since they fill two different apsects of your documentation need. An install/config document and a system documentation. With viDocIT we focus on the ESX host install/config. The created reports may be used in several ways depending on your job role.

A VI administrator may find the reports valuable when adding new ESX hosts to an existing farm just to be sure that they are all configured exactly the same or when there is a need to review what patches are installed in each ESX host. (a new feature in the upcoming version to be released shortly).

More and more System Integrator/Installers face a rising demand from their customer about strutured documentation when they install VI solutions. With viDocIT  Consultant Edition this job can be significantly easier to accomplish. No more error prone manually created documentation.
